Travis Sutton | Furniture Maker

“My pieces are influenced by the aesthetics and functionality of Shaker, Scandinavian, Mid-Century Modern and Japanese designs. I attribute most of my inspiration to all the local woodworkers I observed in Vietnam, Japan, Denmark and Melbourne, Australia during a two-year trip around the world.”

Travis has been woodworking professionally since 2014. As a second generation woodworker and U.S. Navy veteran, Travis’ attention to detail is Sutton Projekt’s hallmark. Throughout his life he’s been mentored by master craftsmen who have taught him how to build quality furniture using time-tested woodworking joinery as it’s cornerstone. Travis sees his journey as a professional woodworker as a never-ending learning experience. In the past eleven years he’s deepened his relationship with the craft by completing North Bennett Street School’s Fine Furniture Intensive Program in Boston, Massachusetts, where he learned the traditional furniture-making techniques he uses today to create his work. In 2017 he completed a year-long welding course at Lively Technical Center in Florida to expand his product-line by offering custom metal fabricated pieces that enhance offices and homes alike. Most recently Travis completed a chair-making workshop with David Douyard, a very respected chair-maker based out of Connecticut.
